Yes, I know that you wouldn’t really watch 5 dvd’s in a row, that is not my purpose in buying that, but he constantly switching from dvd to dvd and watching more dvds then television. That way I don’t have to constantly get up to put something different in or watch the same movie for a week straight because it happens to be in the one in the player (yes selfish reasons, but he’ll like it). Thank you for the advice though.

I have a emerson home theater system model AV101. I purchased it in 2003. I don’t have the instructions anymore and I can’t find the manual online. I am trying to turn the subwoofer on but I can’t figure out or remember how. I have used the remote and the tried turning it on by the player but I have been unsuccesful. Does anyone know how to turn the subwoofer to on. Thanks.

I went over to my friends house the other day to visit him and he showed me his home theater system. It was very loud, had tons of bass coming from the subwoofer, and also had a very crisp, clear sound. I asked him how much his system ran for so that I could look for something similar and he said he mixed and matched, but it would run somewhere around the $1300 mark online.

Whenever I look online, I see very highly rated home theater (5.1) systems for around $200 – $300. Are these even worth it? Is something of this price range going to give me great sound? Will there be a good amount of bass coming from the sub? And what the hell does a receiver do anyways?
